USO of Central & Southern Ohio
USO
of Central & Southern Ohio is responsible for 55 counties in Central
and Southern Ohio, and four counties in West Virginia.
There are five major programs of the USO of Central & Southern Ohio:
*Airport Lounge - Operated at Port Columbus International Airport and Dayton International Airport for military people on the move, the lounge provides snacks, books, games, and telephone services. Port Columbus, Cincinnati Airport and the Dayton Airport lounges are open from 8am-8pm Monday through Friday and 11am - 4pm Saturday & Sunday.
*Family Services - Activities for families of military personnel includes recreational activities, crisis intervention and information referral. A major portion of our support goes to support Strong Military Families. When a service member is deployed, it impacts the entire family and USO provides funds to support seminars, Kids camps and other programs to help the family deal with the stress of military service.
*Special Events - Furnish free or discount tickets to ball games, theme parks, and other events.
*USO Lounge - At the Military Entrance Processing Station, (MEPS) 775 Taylor Rd, Gahanna. To assist new recruits that enlist for military service. This lounge is open from 6am - noon, Monday through Friday.
*Family Events - USO assists in funding family events such as camps, workshops, and retreats that help families deal with the many challenges of military life.
While the service members visit the lounge area, we do our best to help them feel at home and relax. We provide snacks and drinks, reading material and computers with Internet access.
Each month over 50 volunteers provide hundreds of hours of service to help staff these lounges. We are also establishing a volunteer program for those who may be interested in providing administrative services.
In addition to the regular military travelers, we are frequently called upon to provide a Welcome Home to a serviceman or woman who is returning from duty overseas. We are always pleased to do so.
USO of Central & Southern Ohio is NOT a government agency and does not receive federal government funding.
